This study was carried out at the research unit for animal behaviour, belonging to the Faculty of Agriculture, Menoufia University, Egypt to study maternal behaviour in cattle under Egyptian circumstances. A total of 29 Egyptian buffaloes, with an average body weight of 671 ± 95 kg, were included in the experiment to study buffalo's maternal behaviour within three stages of parturition. The experiment lasted for 35 months, from February 2021 to January 2024. During this period all pregnant buffaloes were monitored to record the activity patterns of each animal during observation periods 72 hours (pre-partum, partum, and post-partum) with a total observation time of 2088 hours for all studied animals; using a complete digital behavioural observation unit. Buffaloes were moved to individual calving pens one week before the expected parturition day. Data was analyzed using SPSS statistics for Windows, version 22.0. (2013).
